Treating Dark Spots

Dark Spots aka Hyperpigmentation is a very frustrating skin condition, and there are many causes that trigger excess melanin activity.

Inflammatory Factors · UV sun exposure · Overuse of strong chemical peels, laser procedures, harsh skincare products · Excessive picking at blemishes or a major breakout (Did your blemish leave you with a red or dark mark?)

Hormonal Factors · Prescription medication · Peri-menopause/menopause · Pregnancy · Birth Control Pills

But one surprising cause is heat from UV rays!

Even with a good daily sunscreen, we now know that heat from the sun triggers inflammation, and inflammation sets off a response to increase melanin activity. With the proper home care and in-office professional treatments, dark spots will definitely get lighter. Being mindful of the amount of time spent in the sun and taking extra precautions to protect your skin (hat, sunglasses, UPF clothing) is invaluable in the fight against hyperpigmentation.

With the Louisiana summer on the way out, we can now safely start treating dark spots! Peel Season has arrived and here are the details to get you started:
